How we handle your details.
This website sells the memoir Never Standing Still by Harry Michaels OAM. It collects only what is needed to take your order, post your copy and answer your questions. This page explains what that is, who sees it, and how to ask us about it.
Who we are
The site is operated on behalf of Harry Michaels OAM by ARK Television Concepts Pty Ltd, Australia, which is the business that takes your payment. Questions about privacy can be sent to orders@neverstandingstill.com.au.
What we collect
When you order a copy, the checkout page asks for your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, and records what you ordered and what you paid. If you order by phone, email or in person, we record the same details — your name, contact details, delivery address and what you ordered — in our order records. When you write to us, we keep your email and what it says. That is all. We do not ask for anything we do not need to post you a book and keep you informed about your order.
We never see or store your card details. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own secure page, and Stripe tells us only that the payment succeeded and what the delivery details are.
What we use it for
- To process and post your order, and to send you the order confirmation and any updates about it.
- To reply when you write to us.
- To keep the records a business must keep, such as proof of sale.
- If you have asked to hear about the book, to send you that news. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time.
We do not sell, rent or trade your details, and we do not use them for advertising.
Who else handles it
A few services work behind the site, each seeing only what it needs to do its job:
- Stripe takes your payment and holds your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Resend delivers our emails to you and keeps the addresses of people who have asked to hear from us.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Neon stores our order records: your name, contact details, delivery address and what you ordered.
- Australia Post and other carriers receive your name and address to deliver your copy.
Some of these providers store information outside Australia. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard at least as high as Australian law requires.
Cookies
This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Stripe's checkout page may set cookies that it needs to prevent fraud and complete your payment; those are covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as Australian tax and consumer law requires, which is generally seven years. Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to help with your order. If you asked to hear about the book, we keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. Write to orders@neverstandingstill.com.au and a person will reply. If you are not happy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Security
Payment happens on Stripe's secure page, the site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to order information is limited to the people who post the books and answer your emails. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot promise otherwise, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your details, we will update this page and the date at the top. Orders placed before a change are handled under the policy that applied at the time.
